ABOUT US

The Global Bhutanese Literary Organization (GBLO) is a volunteer-driven, non-profit, and non-political service-oriented organization, officially recognized as a 501(c) entity. Founded in 2009 in the Bhutanese refugee camps in Nepal, GBLO emerged during the uncertain years of third-country resettlement. At that time, the community faced deep challenges: the future was unclear, the hope of returning to Bhutan felt distant, and many young people struggled with confusion, fear, and a lack of guidance. With senior leaders absent, literary and cultural activities had nearly come to a standstill. Amidst this void, a group of conscious and passionate youth recognized the urgent need to preserve art, literature, and language as essential elements of cultural identity. They understood that without deliberate effort, these traditions could be lost. Out of this determination, GBLO was born. Since its inception, GBLO has remained true to its founding values, serving as both a sanctuary for artistic expression and a pillar for cultural continuity and community empowerment. The organization continues to nurture creativity, preserve heritage, and promote peace through literature, art, and service.
